As a person nears the end of life, some aspects come into sharper focus while others fade away. Not all of these changes are pleasant. There may be physical and/or emotional discomfort for the dying person, and for those by whom s/he/they are loved.
Sound therapy has been shown to relieve pain, lessen agitation, improve sleep, reduce anxiety, boost mood, and elevate quality of experience in a home or hospice setting. It can also promote constructive communication and camaraderie between family members. Families who incorporate sound and music therapy are often able to transform this challenging time into an experience of creative expression with their loved one.
I tailor individual sessions to address the needs, wishes, and desires of those who are approaching the other side. Using rhythm, repetition, and spoken/sung words, we tune the space to facilitate a peaceful transition.
